Learning Object/Week 2:
It was not surprising to me that my responses align with student-centered assessment because it is the model emphasized within the technical college system. Plus, it’s an approach that just makes more sense to me, even though most of my own education was teacher-centered. Student-centered classrooms, whether face-to-face or online, are engaging and diverse atmospheres. In my classes, for example, students are 18/just out of high school, 28/with military service, 38/returning to finish a degree from long ago, or 48/retraining after a job loss. Their individual expectations vary, but all want to gain relevant skills and be guided in that pursuit. A student-centered approach can accomplish this because it focuses on their learning.
